A few updates.

1) It would seem I have made a mistake. Murder by Death's new album will be coming out on April 6th. This does not change my previous demands. While we are on the note. May 11th is the release date for the New National album, entitled high Violet. We can also look forward to a new Band of Horses CD on the 14 of April, and a new Deer Tick LP in June.

Let me just say now. I am nervous for the new Deer Tick. Their last Ep did not leave me with much hope. It was rather disappointing.

2) March 30th I will be seeing spoon. I really shouldn't have to tell you how excited I am. I may also be gong to see Teegan and Sara, but not of my own free will. I have been thinking about reviewing the new Spoon album even thought it came out last year. I make no promises but I strongly encourage each and every one of you to go check out either Transference or Kill the Moonlight. Both are amazing albums. I will not be reviewing the new Liars album, but it is amazing. The time has come and gone however, I missed the boat.

3) Tomorrow is March 14th. Who knows what that means? Anyone? No? The re-release of Pokemon Gold and Silver for the DS. I will be consumed by this game, don't expect much out of me. i will also be joining a Pokemon League (I know, I don't wanna hear it) so I may not be updating as often as I would like. But I promise to review the new Murder album and possibly the new She & Him coming out on march 23rd.

For now I will be committing myself to Beating Mass Effect 2 today. Also, one more thing...

4) I know I only have 4 "followers" but I doubt even they read this. If anyone would like me to review something, video Games, Television shows, Books, I would be happy to do so, just send me a message, or leave a comment. I draw the line at movies. If you want movie reviews from me, expect 10 year old flicks because I haven't watched a movie since the new millennium.

take care of each other, Juju.

There is nothing like something new...

1) Frightened Rabbit - The Winter of Mixed Drinks

6.2

For Frightened Rabbit's third album we have seen the first band member change. not so much of a change as it is just an addition. however this is not the only change the band has made. Their lyrics are no longer as focused on sexual frustration and doubt. They remain angry and disappointed, but the feelings seem to be more directed at the world than at a lost love.

The first track "Things" immediately shows that the band has some new ideas in mind as far as direction is concerned. A change that I believe was not necessarily a bad one, they probably disappointed a lot of fans though. The second song feels much more like "Midnight Organ Fight" and to be honest, I liked for the first 2 or so minutes, but repetition at this point in the bands life points to a lack of inspiration and creativity. I fully expect greater things out of them after front-man Scott Hutchison goes through his next major fuck up.

"Nothing Like You" makes me believe that Frightened Rabbit hasn't lost what makes them a good band. I just hope that they realize they didn't bring their A game to this performance.

It's not that this album deserves a low score, quite the opposite. It is nice to see the Hutchison brothers try something different. It would have been fabulous if it had sounded as good as their older albums did.

2) Saw Rodrigo y Gabriela last week downtown. It was one of the best shows I had seen in a long time. I highly recommend that you make a point of going to see them if they are anywhere near you. This is their first American tour and who knows when they'll be back.

3) I have some news for everyone. Murder by Death will be releasing their fifth album on March 29th. I am very excited and very nervous. many of the bands that I enjoyed are not living up to my expectations. However Murder has a reputation for only making the best of music. If you have not heard of this band, i don't recommend you listen to them. I demand it.

It also would appear that The National have another album coming out in May. Another something to look forward to.

Take care of each other, Juju.

Vein of Stars.

1) So. The Alkaline concert was much better than I thought it would be. They only played maybe 2 songs off of their bull shit album. And didn't play that much off of "This Addiction" either. it was mostly old stuff, and that was pretty alright. But I have to say that, Alk Trio was not the reason I loved the show. Cursive. The band opening for them was astounding. I had heard of them before, but I couldn't have named a song if it was ear fucking me. You know? Anyway, they were spectacular.

2) Going to see Rodrigo y Gabriela tonight. Hope the album they just put out is as good as I hear it is.

Telling You What to Think.

1) Yeasayer - Odd Blood

8.3/10

The New York based Experimental band has put out their sophomore album. And I must say, it is astounding. There isn't a bad song on the whole album. Both of their singers have improved (which is saying something cause they were already pretty damn good), and they managed to take this album in a completely new direction while staying true to what the fans love about All Hour Cymbals. The new album is much more electronic influenced. That may have something to do with them changing drummers halfway through the CD. And that, right there, is the biggest problem I have with the record. That's right folks (all 3 of you that might know this) Luke has left the band to start his own solo career. While it is pretty much unheard of for a drummer to hit it big by himself, if anyone can do it Luke can. But what does this mean for Yeasayer and Odd Blood? Well, for tracks 5 to 10, they have gotten two new percussionists. Will they be staying with the band for their third album? No one really knows. But my hope is that they realize what they have done and beg Luke to take them back.

The album is still worth a listen or 10. If you like Techno, good vocals, and lyrics that tug at your heartstrings, I highly recommend Odd Blood.

2) On a side note: HOLY CRAP IS THAT A POST? WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? For the last few months I have been overly busy with moving to a new city and starting a new job. i hope to post more often now but don't hold your breath. I still don't have internet at my new apartment because Comcast has the business ethics of ACME. (the store that Wiley Coyote got all his shitty slingshots and rockets from)

I will be at the very least using this to write reviews about new albums that I care to listen to. The next couple on my list are The Winter of Mixed Drinks by Frightened Rabbit and Sisterworld by the Liars. Both scheduled to release March 9th.

3) I will be going to see Alkaline Trio and Cursive tomorrow after work so there will not be a post till Wed. morn at the earliest.

Take care of each other, Juju.
